Exhibit A : center console handle
see those 4 square tabs? Those are what hold the release handle for the center console. The metal tongue presses it down, you lift up and the arm rest releases. 4 tiny tabs of plastic. Why would you have a piece under pressure that has to flex to function be secured by 4 2mm thick tabs of plastic?!
Mine shesrwd off years ago. I repaired it by gluing strips of zip tie to act as a hinge. Originally I epoxy'ed the handle back on but it didn't flex and just broke off. Hense the zip ties. Well its ugly. So I ordered a replacement off eBay.
It is such an awful design that my replacement came with the handle already broken off!
*I did contact the seller and they said to keep this one and they're mailing me a replacement asap, free of charge.

The GMC Envoy/Chevy Trailblazer/ other rebadgings. I think there was also a Saab and Buick. Possibly an Oldsmobile. Either way, there's a little nub on the centre console lid. It broke off in my parent's envoy, which prevents the latch from lining up properly and, well, latching. Out of 20 of the Envoy variants, all the console lids were either missing, or also had the nub broken off. Design flaw, alright.
